Cancelling a Work Relationship - Overview

Canceling a Work Relationship in Oracle Cloud HR removes the relationship and associated records, impacting assignments, payroll, benefits, and roles. This action ensures that the system restores the person's status before the relationship was created if they have other existing relationships.

Key Impacts of Cancelling a Work Relationship:

  1. Automatic Deletion of Records:

    • Work relationship, assignments, payroll, benefits, and compensation records are removed.
    • Any roles assigned to the person for that relationship are revoked.
  2. Status Restoration:

    • If the person has other work or contact relationships, the system reinstates their previous status.
    • If it's their only work relationship, the person record remains but is marked as a canceled worker, making them invisible in general searches.
    • The system retains the record, allowing future rehiring or adding them as a contingent worker, nonworker, or pending worker.
  3. Restrictions on Cancellation:

    • Cannot cancel a work relationship with a current, past, or future-dated termination; the termination must be reversed first.
    • If any assignment is included in a payroll run, the work relationship cannot be canceled but can be terminated.
  4. How to Cancel a Work Relationship:

    • Navigate to Person Management.
    • Use the Manage Work Relationship task.

This process helps ensure that employee data is accurately maintained while following necessary restrictions for compliance.
