In this blog, we will understand in which situation which journey we need to use, If you want to assign tasks to employees in the middle of a business process, such as a transfer or a promotion, you have two options in Journeys. You can either use a Contextual Journey or a Guided Journey, depending on your needs and preferences. Let me explain the difference between them and how to set them up.
A Contextual Journey is a type of Journey that allows you to define tasks that are related to a specific HR transaction. For example, if you want to transfer an employee, you can create a Contextual Journey that includes tasks for the manager, such as reviewing the assignment details, meeting the new manager, or handing over the employee's responsibilities. These tasks will be triggered when the employee submits the transfer request. The manager can complete the tasks before approving the transfer.
A Guided Journey is a type of Journey that provides guidance and information to the employee or the manager during an HCM flow. For example, if you want to help a manager transfer an employee, you can create a Guided Journey that includes tasks such as tutorials, company policies, or best practices for transferring employees. These tasks will be available as a manager's Journey and can be accessed anytime during the transfer process.
To configure a Contextual Journey, you need to select the Contextual Journey type when creating a new Journey and choose the HR transaction that you want to associate with it. Then, you can add tasks for different performers and define the conditions and triggers for each task.
To configure a Guided Journey, you need to select the Guided Journey type when creating a new Journey and choose the HCM flow that you want to associate with it. Then, you can add tasks for different performers and define the availability and visibility of each task.
