Learning Assessment Overview
Learning Assessments are added to course offerings to test learner understanding through questionnaires. Assessments can be placed at the beginning or end of a course offering based on learning objectives.
Assessment Placement Examples:
- Start of Course: To assess pre-existing knowledge.
- End of Course: To measure achievement of learning outcomes.
Steps to Implement Learning Assessments
1. Create Questions for Learning Assessments
- Navigate to My Client Groups > Performance work area > Manage Questions
- Set Subscriber to Learning Assessments
- Click + to create a folder and Create to add a new question
- Question Types:
- Text, Single Choice, Multiple Choice, No Response
- Save the question with status Active
2. Create Questionnaire Template
- Go to Manage Questionnaire Templates
- Set Subscriber to Learning Assessments
- Create or copy a template
- Define:
- Section order, layout, allowed response types
- Add instructions, sections, questions
- Control question/response order, required responses
- Set Status to Active
3. Create Assessment Questionnaire
- Go to Manage Questionnaires
- Set Subscriber to Learning Assessment
- Select or create using a template
- Define:
- Instructions, layout, max questions per page
- Sections, questions, order, visibility settings
- Set Status to Active
4. Add Assessment to Catalog Resources
- Navigate to Learning > Catalog Resources > Content Tab
- Click Add Content > Add Assessment
- Enter title, select a questionnaire, define availability, mastery score, visibility, attempts, time limit
- Set Status to Active and Save
5. Add Assessment to an Offering
- Navigate to Learning Catalog > Offerings Tab
- Edit an offering, go to Activities Tab
- Click Create, select assessment from catalog
- Add details (title, description, content, time/effort)
Evaluation vs Assessment
- Evaluation: Captures learner feedback after course completion.
- Assessment: Tests knowledge or understanding of course content.
