HCM Terminologies and Explanation

ACR - Autocomplete Rules

AICC - Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee

Created standards to ensure that learning content could run smoothly across different Learning Management Systems (LMS). Developed the AICC standard (AICC/CMI), which defines how: Learning content communicates with LMSs. User progress, scores, and completion statuses are tracked and reported

Example:

If a company made online training using the AICC standard, it could be used in any LMS that supports AICC without compatibility issues.

AOR - Area of Responsibility

In Oracle Fusion HCM, Areas of Responsibility (AoR) define what a worker is responsible for within the organization. You can assign specific responsibilities to workers and define their scope based on criteria like department or employee attributes.

Example:

If a manager is assigned an AOR for the Sales department in New York, they can view and manage data only for employees in that area.

BIP - Business Intelligence Publisher

In Oracle Fusion HCM is a tool for creating and delivering reports. It helps design report layouts, structure data, and generate visualizations, making it easy to produce and share insightful reports within the organization.

Example:

An HR team can use BI Publisher to generate employee salary reports, payslips, or approval notifications in a customized format.

BPM - Business Process Management

In Oracle Fusion HCM, we use BPM to configure advanced approval rules, control the notification behavior, etc.

Example:

When an employee requests leave, BPM handles the approval flow—routing it to the manager, then HR, based on the defined process.

BRD - Business Requirement Document

A Business Requirement Document (BRD) is a formal document that explains what a business needs from a project or system. It describes goals, features, functions, and expectations in detail. It helps both business users and technical teams understand the project clearly.

Example:

If HR wants a new employee onboarding system, the BRD will list all requirements like forms, approvals, workflows, and reports needed.

CAN - Candidate

Candidate is a potential match for a job opening. They are identified and reviewed after the job requisition is approved to see if they fit the role.

Example:

When someone applies for a job through the career site or is referred by an employee, they become candidates in the recruitment process.

CAB - Customer Advisor Board

The Oracle Customer Advisory Board (CAB) meeting is an exclusive event where attendees will hear from Oracle executives and product experts about product strategy insights, roadmaps, industry trends, and best practices that will help them better leverage their investments in Oracle solutions.

Example:

A software company forms a Customer Advisory Board to discuss new features, product updates, and understand customer needs before launching new solutions.

CR - Change Request

A Change Request is a formal way to ask for a modification or improvement in a system, process, or workflow.

It helps teams track and manage changes like adding a new field, updating approval flow, or fixing a report.

Example:

If an HR manager wants to add a new approval level in the employee promotion workflow, they will raise a Change Request to update the system.

CRP  - Conference Room Pilot

A Conference Room Pilot (CRP) is a trial run or test session used to check how a new system or software (like Oracle Fusion) works before going live.

It helps users and teams test real business scenarios, find gaps, and give feedback early in the project.

Example:

Before fully launching Oracle Fusion HCM, HR and Payroll teams simulate actual tasks like hiring, transferring, or processing payroll in a CRP session to ensure everything works properly.

CSI - Customer Support Identifier

A Customer Support Identifier (CSI) is a unique number given to every Oracle customer when they buy Oracle products or services.

It helps Oracle identify who you are, what products you have, and allows you to raise service requests (SRs) or get support.

Example:

If your company wants to raise a support ticket with Oracle, you need to enter your CSI number so Oracle knows which account and products the request is for.
