Transferring employees within an organization can occur locally (within the same legal employer) or globally (to a different legal employer). Oracle HCM supports Global Transfers, allowing employees to transition between legal entities while maintaining accurate records.
1. What is a Global Transfer?
A Global Transfer refers to moving an employee from one legal employer to another.
- Example: Transferring an employee from Oracle Canada (Legal Employer) to Oracle US (Legal Employer).
- This creates a new work relationship with the destination legal employer.
2. Steps to Perform a Global Transfer
- Navigate to Person Management.
- Search for the employee to be transferred.
- Click on Edit and select Update.
- Set the Effective Date for the transfer.
- Choose the Global Transfer action from the list.
- Select whether to copy primary data to the new legal employer.
- Confirm and submit the transfer.
3. How Global Transfers are Processed in Oracle HCM
- The primary assignment with the current legal employer is automatically terminated.
- A new work relationship is created with the new legal employer.
- By default, the previous assignment status is set to Inactive – Payroll Eligible, but this can be changed to Inactive – No Payroll Eligible if necessary.
- The system does not automatically transfer payroll details; instead, a notification is sent to the Payroll Administrator, who must manually process the payroll transfer.
- If the employee has a future termination date, the global transfer automatically ends the current work relationship a day before the new one begins.
