Which option should we use to correct or update to the department

Requirement
We have created one flexfield under the manage department page, so we have to fill that field for our existing departments also.
Suggest me which one is the best approach for doing this like Correct or Update?
If we do it correctly what are all things got changed?
Similarly, if we do an update what are all things that got changed?
 
Solution/Workaround
If you want to assign the value of the DFF as of the date of the department, then use CORRECTION. It will not impact anything else as you are just entering the value in the DFF attribute.
If you want to assign the value of DFF as of a particular date, let us, say as of 01-DEC-2021, then update the value in UPDATE mode. Before 01-DEC-2021, the value in the DFF attribute will be NULL by default. Again, no other fields will be impacted.
